    generation to follow the building trade, and are building new houses to the present day. Other families in the townland became great roadmakers. With iron crow-bars they quarried immense quantities of stone, broke them with sledge hammers and stone hammers and made and kept in repair miles of road. They became very hardy strong men, and their deeds of strength are recorded.
    The townland of Ardkill contains a dozen houses; six slated and six thatched. Eleven families dwell in Ardkill and in all there are thirty-nine people.
