- (continued from previous page)Girls make 'chains' out of daisies. They get the daisies, and pleat them until the chain is made. They make 'bracelets' by getting buckey briar berries and putting a thread in through them.
They make 'belts' by getting fag paper and pleating it in and out till they have the belt made.
They make 'cages' for butterflies by getting rushes and pleating them till the cage is ready for the butterfly.
'Clocks' were made by putting two pieces of wire and figures on a polish box.
'Houses' were made with a number of match-boxes put on top of one another.
'Cages' for birds were made by putting net-wire on the front of a small box.
'Ploughs' were made, by putting a cruked stick into the sock of an ordinary plough. - Every boy and many girls are able to make toys. Boys make balls from a hay-rope.
The 'Ball' is made by making on the thumb a thumb rope, and twisting it round till it is in the shape of a ball.(continues on next page)- Collector
