the people used to get it very hard to cross this river, because it's banks we're nearly all flooded. The people used to go barefooted that as time and they used to plunge through it.
A blind man stopped there in day-time labeled "blind", to get money from the people crossing the river. This man slept in an iron shed near to the ford at night.
At the crossroads the people played "skittles" and "gambling" and an odd time, in the summer, they had wrestling and throwing weights.
There is an old mass path beginning at Patrick Smith's fort and leading to the old "Mass Rock" in Owen Smith's rock. This path was very often blocked, by the people fixing the fences, but those going the path would knock them again.
There was a river on the path. It was crossed by a ford. This ford was often flooded and the people had to cross the fences, therefore the knocking of the fences. This caused much disturbance in the neighbourhood.
