Before that year this road was only a narrow crooked lane and was branched off in different places.
Before that time there were nearly no roads and no carts. There was one road supposed to be made straight through Ireland from Galway to Dundalk now called the 'high' road. It leads through Moynehall and on through our Parish, but owing to Lavey hill been so steep, a road was made called the 'Dark' road and it is connected again at Borrowe's Lake with the high road. The traces of the old road re till to be seen.
