    the ailment is external the water is applied to the affected part, if not it is carried away and drunk.The water is also used for churning by those neighbouring it.
    It is said that Saint Patrick visited this well when he visited Cavan. There is a mark at the well where he was supposed to have knelt. It is a stone or flag of hard material with a hollow in the centre. It is in this hollow that the people wash their hands and other affected parts.
