- 28. To cure a whitlow. Cut a lemon in two. Put finger in one half for twelve hours. Then change and apply the other piece.
29. To cure a scald between toes. Apply a fasting spit each morning until scald is cured.
30. To remove thorn. Put a slice of fat bacon on affected part and bandage. Leave for some hours and the thorn will easily be removed.
31. To cure a cold. Boil buttermilk and take last thing when going to bed.
32. To cure a cold on chest. Rub fat in a thick sheet of brown paper. Heat the paper until it is as hot as can be borne. Apply to the patients chest and cover to keep heat from escaping.(continues on next page)- Collector
