    There is a fire inside in the ring and according as the fire is heating the timber, the cooper keeps putting tighter hoops around the churn until gradually it comes into shape. There is a groove cut in the staves and before he tightens the frame of the churn he places the bottom in by putting the edges of the boards in the groove. He then gives it the last tightening by putting on smaller hoops.
    It is very interesting to watch a cooper at work and to see as quickly as he can make the different things although there is a lot of work attached to the making of them.
