- Local Poets 6-4-'38
The poet that lives in our district is Mr Patrick Lynch Dungimman. He made a song addressed to Spat and the Ass.
The first verse continues like the following -
Come all young fellows thats fond
of a dance.
Just jog down to Cronins it is the
best chance.
For Spat and the Ass are gone to
the town.
And the Oldcastle ladies are sure to be down.
The last verse is -
As Spat and the ass were macking
their moans.
I fear you and I are to leave the Ladies
at home.
When the ass heard the news he went
down on his knees.
And prayed seven curses to Spat and
his sprees.
The foal for a clerke he answered
"Amen"
