  1. The patron saint of the parish of Kilbride Mt Nugent is St. Brigid. The two chapels in the parish are called after her. There is a statue of her on the top of Mt. Nugent chapel, which was built in the year 1829.
A number of girls and women in the parish are called after her.
There are two holy wells dedicated to her. The wells are called St. Brigid's Wells. One well is situated in Kilbride Mt. Nugent. The other is in Matthew Hourigan's field of Dungimmon, Mt. Nugent, Co. Cavan.
There is a legent told that St. Brigid visits every home on the Eve of St. Brigid, and some people hang out garments or handkerchiefs to be blessed by the saint, because it is said that anything you rub them to will be healed.
