   About 85 years ago the Excise officer who was locally known as the "Gager, was very much disliked by some of the "potteen makers of that time. They decided to frighten him, he was expected to pass the roadway at Carrickgorman at the place where Mr. James Smith has the agricultural fruit plot now. A shot was fired when it was believed he was passing and the man fell dead,
