    Three families named McDonaghs, Wilsons, and Gordans, are to be seen in the sheltered part of the roadside in Carrickgorman, between Cullen's Crossroads, and Griffin's cottage, Carrickgorman, and sometimes on the old roadway christened "Bachelor's Walk" in a sheltered part near Mr. Robert Gilmore's lane.
    They arrive in spring drawn by ponies or old horses, in which they have their families, bedding, and a supply of tin and implements to make it into gallons and other tin articles,as the men folk are tin-marks or "Tinkers".
    They sleep on beds of straw, and covered overhead with canvas, with decayed branches from the hedges they light fires on the grass margin, and cook and eat in the open, and also work at the making of tin ware.
    Generally they remain for three or four days, all day the women folk and children visit all the houses in the locality offering tin ware for sale, and asking for articles
