  1. Peter O'Connell. Lisnaboy, Tievworther, Bailieboro' was a local poet. He was born in the year 1866, and he died in Lisnaboy when we was 69 years old. He is buried in the new cemetery, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan.
    He composed the song 'The Races of Cormeen'. He composed it in English.He was a farmer, and he wrote his own songs.

  2. On the twelfth of December, that beautiful day,
    So calm, and so clear, like a day in May.
    When all the lads and lasses gay,
    At Cormeen did assemble.
    From Meath and Cavan they did appear,
    And Louth and Monaghan,too, I hear,
    From the gent worth one thousand five hundred a year
    To the lad with the peas and the thimble
