- One day a man by the name of Thomas Clarke went to the fair of Virginia with an ass and cart. He spent the day in Virginia; that night he came home drink. When he was coming home along the road he fell asleep. A few mile outside of Virginia he met a few tricky boys. The ass stood along the road; the boys took the ass out of the cart and hid him at the back of some ditch. When the man wakened he found he had no ass; he went to some house near hand and asked them did they find an ass; they answered "No". He said, "If I am Thomas Clarke I lost an ass and if I'm not I found a cart"
