- There is a stray sod on our hill; it is supposed that there was an unbaptised child buried there. If anyone went astray he would have to turn his coat before he could get off it. Mrs MacManus, Bridget Clarke, and Phil Carroll went astray on it.

- The reason the top of the rush is brown is because Saint Patrick cursed it! It stuck in his eye. You would never get a rush without the top of it being brown.
