mothers took a great delight in spinning. Mostly every woman at the time could spin wool or flax. All the young women when married took their spinning wheels and reels to their new home. The spinning-wheel was a wonder itself in its workmanship, all the parts being made of wood including the wheels and worn gearing.
Dyeing in county districts has ceased this forty years. Since spinning & weaving ceased, and especially since the closing of the old woolen mill near Bailieboro, dyers are not required.
