  1. Many people believe that forts are inhabited by strange, mystic beings called fairies or brownies, and some queer stories are told about them, The following is one:-
    about twenty years ago a man named John Martin who resided in the townland of Lisboduff, near a fort of the same name, decided to build a new house, and in order to have it in an elevated position he laid the foundations in the centre of the fort.
    He employed a couple of men and soon he had it ready for roofing. But the stones and mortar, were lying on the ground, and there was not a trace of the building to be seen. He was very frightened and he did not attempt to rebuild it on the fort.
