    when he had given up all hopes for ever again standing on solid ground, a few stalwart "rascals" stepped in front of the flying charger and stopped her. As soon as my grandfather had recovered his breath he headed towards the office of the Board of Works. He was covered all over with hair, a fact which provoked much merriment in the office. He then told the story of his plight, and was awarded for his bravery by receiving one pound sterling more than his ordinary cost.
