- The clog-óir was used for generations for purposes of adjuration, dreadful results being supposed to follow perjury in such circumstances. The following story is told concerning its powers:-
Once a gentleman from Galway sent his servant to borrow it, and the latter (who was actually guilty of the crime his master wanted to detect), fearing the relic, flung it into the sea.
