    Craháns are small potatoes. The potatoes which grow best around Ennis are Land "Leaguers", "Flounders" are early potatoes. Land Leaguers got their name because they were introduced into the country at the time of the Land League. The other types of potatoes- Irish Queens, Champions, Ker Pinks- British Queens, Up-to-Dates Arran Banner, Arran Victor - Arran Chiefs, "Bluemers"(have a blueish skin) Epicures, May Queens, (Orangemen - those are no longer grown). Striped Champions.
    Long ago starch was made from potatoes.
