- In the year 1904 a hurling match was played at Ennis between the Tulla team and the O'Callaghan's Mills team. Each team consisted of 17 players. The teams were picked by local committees. It was a parish versus parish match. The O'Callaghan's Mill team won. Denny Callaghan and Jackie Kelly won fame at this match and are still alive and interested in the game which is played with smaller teams.
In earlier years than this hurling teams were composed of 15 men at each side and the ball was hurled through many fields from parish to parish. The teams had no(continues on next page)- Collector
