   Peter Clyne of Aughamore was a great swimmer, anywhere he want to go if the Shannon was shorter he would swim it Mr Rourke Lanesboro was a great swimmer he won many races for swimming. There is only one good story-teller in Lanesboro and his name is Mr Ned Farrell There is only one good singer in Lanesboro and his favourite song is "When you I were young Maggie" and "The old plaid shawl"

   The following account of Hedge schools was told by Mrs Ned Farrell Lanesboro Longford There was a four hedge schools in our district. These was once in Ballyleague beside the Shannon and it was under a hedge. The children used to go to that
