    When Cromwell was besieging [?], under rule of [?] the chieftain buried his treasure in a well and placed a soldier to guard it. In order to guard it, dear or alive, he cut off his head and threw him into the well after it.
    This well is [?] in [?] yard now owned by Bernard Sheil Walshe. Nobody meddles with it as "spooks" are supposed to be seen there. Some great harm or evil is expected to befall the person who interferes with it. The treasure is supposed to consist of golden vessels and chalices and ornaments.
