- There was a hedge school in Barney McAdams field in the town land of Oghill. The school was in an Old Quarry. The Teacher's name was Baldy Fox. The school was held here in the Summer and they had no school during the Winter. The teacher stayed in some of the houses in the neighbourhood. The teacher's pay was gifts from the people. They did not do Irish in the school. They taught English Reading, writing and sums. The children sat on stones and pieces of rock and they wrote on slates with slate pencils.
