- In former times people had home cures for nearly all their ailments. When a person got a burn they put soap on it to keep it from blistering.
The cure for a sore throat is to put salt in a stocking and tie it round your throat at night. They sometimes gargled the throat with sand and water.
The cure for the mumps was to put boiled potatoes in a stocking and tie it round your neck and let the steam of the potatoes go down your throat.- Collector

- The cure for the whooping cough was to get three different charities.
The cure for a wart is when you see a snail rub it on the wart and then hang the snail on a bush, and when the snail dies the wart will die.
The cure for the toothache is to put baking soda on it or saltpetre and let it melt round the tooth.
