“It been in October the year of 68, we had a fine hunt in Colonel Maddens estate.”
IIt been in October the year of 68,
We had a fine hunt in Colonel Maddens estate,
There were sportmen form Newtown and from Lough-na-Rye
We all met on Donagh hill our hounds for to try.Chorus:
Tally ho hark away, tally ho hark away,
Tall ho hark away my boys away come awayIIIt was there they began trailing a hare for to rise
The music of Jostler it would you surprise.
When the hare found them coming she stole away
In to Drumsastra and on to Cornabrae.ChorusIIIWhen the hare she was started she ran round Drumcoff.
She headed for Screevagh and then for Moorlough
When she ran round Moorlough she turned back again
In to Drumsastra and on through Drumrain.ChorusIVIt was there she sat down to hear the cry
She says to John Mc Cusker "This day I will die
Foryonder comes Jostler and I do him know,
If ever he eyes me he'll prove my over throwChorusVWell says Mc Cusker I will strike a plan
