When the people of the house despaired of her coming in they went out to see what was keeping her. They got her dead in the bush as they thought. The fairies had swapped her. They brought this girl on as far as Boylan’s Cross. The girl was roaring and John Boulanger came out when he heard her roaring. She shouted for John to bring her back home, and he took the girl from them. He brought her home to her father and mother and he told them that she was being taken away by the fairies and he rescued her. He told them it was a witch that was left in her place.
