- About three miles from Arva there is a hill called Bruce. It is eight hundred feet high. On top of it there is a holy well the water of which is supposed to cure warts. When a person wants to get the cure he must go to the well three times. He has to begin on a Monday then go back on the following Thursday, and back on the following Monday. When he goes to the well, he must make the sign of the cross on the wart with the water. Then he must tie a piece of cloth to a bush that stands near the well. According as the rag withers on the bush the warts will wither also. The old people say that he that will not believe in the cure will not be cured.
