- There is a Holy Well in this parish of Drumgoon in the townland of Knochnashammer. It is in Mr. Coleman's farm. It is in the corner of a field about two hundred yards from Mr. Coleman's house.
It is said it is a Holy Well because Saint Patrick passed by it and blessed it. Many people still go on Holy days to visit this Well. They think there is a healing virtue in the water. A blind woman went to that Well and washed her eyes with the water and it is said she received her sight. A lame man washed his leg in the water and it is said he also was cured.
Many people still believe the water can cure. Not long ago a man who had a sick cow brought water from the well and sprinkled it on her.
I do not know if the cow mended, but it shows how people still believe in this superstition. I(continues on next page)- Collector
