- Holy Island is situated in Lough Derg, Co. Clare. On this island is a very old catholic graveyard. Long ago the protestants were fighting to know which would have the graveyard. The catholics won the day and they have it to the present day. About 10 years ago a protestant policeman died in the district of Mountshannon. The other protestants thought to deft the catholics and to bury this policeman in the catholic graveyard in Holy Ireland. The morning after his being buried his coffin was found on the shore of Lough Derg. Then the protestants knew that they were not worthy of the catholic graveyard so they took the coffin and buried it in a protestant graveyard. Another story is told to(continues on next page)
