- In old times there were many roads in the parish. Those of them that are there now are used for "short-cuts".
The "old road" was the road to Limerick This road is very near the wood and robbers used be in the wood and on account of that it was many a person that was robbed on their way home from Limerick. People dreaded to go that road after night-fall.
To prevent this robbing a barrack was built near where the "old road" branches off the Limerick-Ennis road. This "old road" or "wood road" is in the parish yet and used by people going to Limerick on horses and cars because some horses would slip on the main road.- Collector
