“On the road between Mallow and Fermoy is a very old graveyard - Carrig Graveyard.”
On the road between Mallow and Fermoy is a very old graveyard - Carrig Graveyard. A good many years ago some say thirty years a Mrs Best of Carrig House was buried there. On the day of her burial - according to local tradition - two gold dogs gold rings and ear rings were buried with her. That night English soldiers came and opened the grave. It is not known whether they got the gold or not but next morning the grave was found open. It was afterwards closed by Mr Rea Killavullen.- Informant
