    long ago. They got rushes and peeled the skin off them and killed an old cow and got the fat and that is the way candles were invented. There was a half-door on every house to keep the ducks and hens out of the house. Before they used to go to bed they tied a stick across the door and that stick was called the maide Eamoinn. There was a man living in our village and he had his cows and calves tied at the end of the house and one day a guard came to the house and got the cattle
