    Out from the town at once to go
    And take the road to Barryroe
    And for a time to settle down
    Within or near Dunmanway town
    They were, for so they understood,

    "Tis Moscow on a tiny scale!"
    It is indeed a doleful stroke
    This threatened end by fire and smoke
    If German legions grab you tight
    Tis fair to say "It serves you right"
    You often walked the streets about
    And mocked the British soldiers' fate
    Exposed to death and hardships great
    Wild rumours flew about the town
    When British battleships went down.
    All local sailors whom you knew
    You numbered in the doomed ship's crew
    To sage advice, come, listen now,
    Remove a frown from off each brow,
