  1. The food now is different to the food long ago. It was potatoes they used to eat then. They used to go for an hour's work before they would eat their breakfast. Then they would go in and potatoes and skim milk they used have and they used be very glad to have them.
    They used make stampy or a potato cake with big potatoes and eat it hot with butter. This was a very palatable food. Many of them died of starvation during the time of the famine. Yellow meal gruel they have for their supper
