  1. The cuckoo is a migratory bird. She is a very selfish bird. When she comes she lays her eggs in another birds nest. The other bird hatches them and brings them out. She rears them up and the cuckoo goes off for herself.
    The cuckoo comes about the first of May and leaves again in August.
    She flies around from tree to tree calling cú-cú as she goes.
