    coats and overcoats. Women knitted the thread into socks which would last a long time and which were far superior to present day manufacture.
    Cooperage was an old craft. The type of churn which they made has now been superceded. Then there were old wooden vessels scooped from wood such as bowls, dishes, etc. In part of Galway footwear was made from the untanned skins of animals. These were of a crude character and at the present day are very much the same.
