Churning
When my grandmother was young they sued to make butter in a barrel mounted on a stellion with two handles at each end which were turned by the hand. The milk used to be set in kircles [?] for about twelve hours, if the weather were fine. The cream when set would then be skimmed off into the cream tub and kept there until churning day, which to be twice weekly.
