When the cattle were being bought and the buyer paid he pays toll and luck penny to the buyer. When the bargain is made one says to the other "hold your hand"and they place silver in it.
The cattle are marked with a scissors .Some people do it with raddle ,but all have own different marks. Spancihill was one of the most noted horse-fairs in the south of Ireland. There is a fair there every year on the 24th of June .All the horses came to Crusheen to be railed. When a horse is sold the owner always gives a halter with him, generally a wet one.
