    a family named Cookes. It ceased about fifty years ago. John Ralph, a basket maker, lived in Borrisoleigh about twenty years ago. He then went to Upperchurch and is living still. Patrick Mahon is a cooper in Upper Street, Borrisoleigh. His people have been coopers for three generations. The implements he uses are:
    saw, hammer, compass, anvil, hollow knife, adze, board-axe and a draw knife. The wood which the cooper uses is called American Oak.

    The Parish of Borrisoleigh is well served by good roads. The main road connecting Thurles with Limerick city passes through the village. This is a steamrolled road called "The New Line". It is the newest of the roads which passes through the parish of Borrisoleigh. "The New Line" was made during the public works about the year 1850.
    Besides this there are other good roads not steamrolled, The Pallas Road, Bog Road, Back Road, New Road, Ileigh Road, Joe's Road, and BoriaR[?] Buide[?].
    The Pallas Road leads to the New Line at "The Rag". The Bog Road connects The New Line with New Road. They serve the townsland of Rathmoyne. The Back Road is the name given to a road connecting the Borrisoleigh - Templemore Road with The New Line through the townsland of Curracraigue,

    beautiful yellow and she had a long white coat on her and it was down to the ground she used to be seen in the townland of Killamoyne Parish of Borrisoleigh and the Co Tipperary. It is said that they used to be a man seen every night in the hill he used to go out over the didtch and she was riding a horse and he was a big tall man and he had a white horse he used to be seen long ago.

    About twenty years ago there was a big fall of snow and it lasted for a week and there was a horse lost belonging to John Cormac Knockahorna in the Parish of Borrisoleigh. Co. Tipp. And there was a very severe rain storm all the fields and roads were covered with water and there was two pigs lost belonging to Jim Bourke Seskin in the Parish of Upperchurch, Co. Tipperary.

    A cow belonged Kirwan Knockakelly was killed with in the year 1937 on the month of October. Thomas Clohsey Killamoyne Borrisoleigh Co Tipperary was killed with lightening in the year 1933. About a few years ago their was a terrible snow storm in this vicinity and the people had to make foot steps along the road for to travele James Burke of the creamery their houses were flooded about six years ago the time of the big storm. At the time of the storm at Kirwans in Curraleigh their was a tank of milk in the yard about five years ago and it fell with the wind. At this time they were a storm about 1936 year ago on the month of January. And at the back of their house and it came into the kitchen. A man was killed in a snowstorm and the people of the house came to the rescue him he was dead.

    is another fort on the land of John Kelly Heigh, Parish Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary, there is a rampart & a moat around it there are black thorn bushes growing on the rampart. There is a fort on the land of Timothy Ryan Heigh, it is surrounded by a moat & a rampart. This fort & the one on John Kelly's land are only about fifty yards from each other. There are two forts on the land of William Harney[?] Ross, Parish Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary. These two forts are surrounded by a moat & rampart. There are two ramparts around one fort. There is a fort on the townsland of Thomas Youngr, Killamoyne, Parish Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary, it is surrounded by a moat and rampart. there are bushes growing around it too. There is a hole in the middle of the fort. this fort is on a height. all those forts are circular in shape and they all are in view of each other. It is said they were built in ancient Ireland by the people to protect themselves from wild animals. It is not known what people built them. The people say fairy people live in them. None of those forts were ever interfered with.

    a man named Ned Ryan of Gurtnahalla in Parish of Borrisoleigh.Co Tipperary, he was comming from Thurles and just about a hundred yeard's from the rag. there was a pond and it was very deep for it was in winter the horse turned into the pond for a drink and just as he did one of the wheel's went up the bank and the car turned over and the man was drowned and there was no one there to rescure him at that time but he was found the morning after.
    About ten year's ago there was a house burned by the I.R.A. boy's that was fighting against the Black Antan's is was owned by Mr Cooke of Forthwilliam in Borrisoleigh. Co Tipperary there was no live's lost because the man of the house was out at the time and it was burned to the ground
    About a hundred year's ago there was a desease called colhera in our district. This desease came out after the famine and a lot died on the roadside going to mass all the people were rearly sick but were able to give help to one another.

    Their is a fairy fort in our school district. It is in the townsland of Killamoyne Parish Borrisoleigh. Co Tipperary It is called a Liss. There is also one in Castlekill. It is called a fort. There is hole in the middle of this fort. But there is a flag on the top of it.

    The Danes are supposed to have built these fort's. Fairy people were supposed to be living in them. It is said that lights have been seen there long ago. But there are no lights seen there now. These fort's are fenced in all around with trees.

    landlord. A man by the name of W. P. Hanley of Lanespark, was one of his chief agents. Hanly was born in the cottage, Annfield, but after a while lived at Lanespark.
    The cottage is now occupied by the Woodlock brothers whose father during that time lived in Pallashill, where Henry Mc.Cherry. When the Woodlock's father lived in Pallashill he occupied a forge there, and during that time he repaired a batteringram for McHanly.
    About a couple year later as Mr. Woodlock, was at at Mass in Borrisoleigh, he was played up to the church by the Borrisoleigh band.
    This band was opposed to the 57 party which was Borrisoleigh, at that time. About fifteen of the leaders of the band were arrested but after a month or so were released.

    About eighteen years ago there were a woman living in Bullabane, and she heard of a pot of Gold was hidden she took a fork and shovel to dig for to get it. Her name was Josie Kennedy Bullabane Parish Borrisoleigh Co Tipperary. So she would not get it she came home again a few nights after she came again a few nights after she went to bed and some part of the night she fell out and broke her leg. So she told the neighbours what she done a few days of before that and she said that she would never do that again.

    Long ago there was a great jumper in Rusheen, Borrisoleigh. Co Tipperary called Con Usher and it is said he jumped a river called the Clodia. It is about eighteen years ago since he jumped it. And it is not known were there any people watching him or not.
    About ten years ago there was a great swimmer in Cronovone, Borrisoleigh Co. Tipperary called John Kennedy and he was a great swimmer. and it is said that once he won a prize for swimming.
    It is said there was a great mower in Rusheen called John Bourke in the parish of Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary, and it is said that he was able to mow seven acres in three days. It is not known if he was mowing in challenges or not.
    It is said that there was a great singer in Rusheen, Borriselogh, Co. Tipperary. called Winifred Bourke, and once upon a time she won a prize for singing. Long, long ago there

    Co Tipperary when he came to a river at the Ragg the horse pulled in for a drink of water. The horse shyed and jumped into the river and the man was drown'd but there was no lives lost rescuing him only the one. The river was deep and there was no wall along by the road and there was no warning of disaster before hand. There was a house burning in Ross. Borrisoleigh.     Long ago they were a man killed in 1911 in as snowstorm his name was John Ryan Ballyduff Co Tipperary, in the year 1903 in the month of February they were a lot of damage down in a storm they were a house knocked in Rusheen belonging to Hayes of Rusheen Borrisoleigh Co Tipperary and they were a big rick of hay. They was a horse killed upon Thomas Clokesy Killamoyne Borrisoleigh Co Tipperary it was two year old and he was killed with lightning in the year 1898 and she was drove through the ground. There was a big houses knocked and slates were blown of houses and about two hundred yards chimney were blown down it was in the month of February it was the twenty seventh of the month and there was a fair the morning after and people were going to the fair and the morning after and they had cars. The wheels were brought of the cars that happened in the locality and woods were destroyed and all trees were knocke
