The youngsters called her "Biddy Sugar-stick" and "Biddy Ballymoe". Biddy Sugar-stick attended the markets at Glenamaddy, Williamstown and Castlerea on her ass and cart. On arriving at the market, Biddy Sugar-stick, released the ass from the cart, and the well trained ass fed on a bag of hay Biddy had carried with her. Biddy next arranged her sugar sticks, fruit and vegetables on her cart, and she was immediately surrounded by youngsters; kind and generous to them Biddy was.
