- Ned Mac Tigue Burren was a great weaver. He used to weave blankets. He weaved up to about 2 years before he died. He was 94 years when he died. This carried on in places round Castlebar.To colour wool they used to make a dye by boiling the bark of a certain tree.

- Tatching is done by a lot of country-people, not as much as long ago.
- If people wanted a good strong rope they made it from the hemp which they grew and the waste of the flax. They twisted it and plaited it with their hands. If they wanted a rope for tieing a cow they made it from bogdéal so that the cow could not eat it.
