- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)drowned but the piper came safe. That is what left Kilkeeran without an heir. They were a family of the name of Elwoods. The piper left the place and spent a year in a room in Houndswood. There was a horse in the stable which was taken out. After that the Earls daughter hanged herself from a rafters. She is buried inside the little church of Kilkeeran and to this day there are rolls of pebbles left at the well which the people used to have for counting the number of stations they would do. For twenty one years afterwards seven swans used to spend the season on the water in the very spot which they drowned.
