- Potatoes are perhaps the most valuable crop grown on the farm for it's almost impossible to have a satisfactory dinner without potatoes. Of course a lot of trouble is got from them before they are fit to eat. First of all the land has to be ploughed. Then the potatoes are cut into slits and set. After a few weeks they are "set". This is done by ploughing the soil in the furrow and putting it up on the ridges. After a few weeks this work repeated and left there for another month or over. They are then sprayed about three times. This is done to protect them from blight(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
