One evening about fifty years ago a young maiden was passing the fort at sunset.
Suddenly she heard the sounds of great revelry round the tree, and stopped to listen.
The fairies revelry stopped too, and the maiden heard the caoining of the Banshee, who clapped her hands in her sorrow, and mentioned the name of the maiden.
Then the caoining ceased and deep silence reigned again round Lisin Beag.
That night the maiden fell ill and that day month her funeral was seen passing along the white road of Baile na Coille to the graveyard of Cill Garbhain. The singing boys of Coolcarney walked in front of her coffin, singing in Gaelic the hymns the people loved in bygone days.
