- In Olden times people eat three meals a day. They were called breakfast, dinner and supper. People usually had their meals at the following hours. Breakfast at eight o clock dinner at one o clock supper at six o clock. In olden times the farmers got up early and often worked before their breakfast. They usually eat porridge for breakfast and had potatoes for dinner and supper. They drank milk with each meal. At dinner and supper a basketful of potatoes was placed in the centre of the floor. The members of the house sat around and eat their meals in this manner. Sometimes they eat their meals off a table and when they were finished the table was hung on the wall.
