- There are many signs which tell us when the weather is going to change. When there is a ring around the moon it is a sign of rain. When the smoke from the chimney blows down to the ground it is a sign of rain and when it goes straight into the sky it is a sign of dry weather.
Another bad sign is when a cat sits with its back to the fire. Another sign of rain is when a dog lies down before the fire. A sign of rain is when the gurgling of the river seems far away. When it seems very near that's a sign of good weather.
When we have a north-east wind it's a sign of hard weather and it means we are going to have frost or snow. When we have a south-west wind it means we are going to have rain and when we have a south wind it means heat.
