   There is a tradition attached to robin redbreast. It is said that when our Lord was dying on the cross the robin was resting on the cross she of the blood from our Lord fell on his breast and that is how he got his red breast.
   Another way he is supposed to have got his red breast is once upon time when there was only one fire in Roland a boy and his father were left in charge of it to keep it alive. There was a polar bear who did not like this fire and he decided to quench it. One day the boys father had to go in to town for supplies of food and he left the boy in charge of the fire. However the boy soon fell asleep. The polar-bear came along and when he saw the asleep he started to quench the fire by rolling over and over not eh fire. When he got up he saw to his delight that there was just a few cinders left burning and he went away.
   When he was gone the little robin came and started to fan the cinders with his wings until he had the flames leaping up again. As he was doing this a flame happened to scorch his breast and he has since been called robin red-breast.
