“There (are) is a lake in this district surrounded by high hills, and the name of it is Lough Colmcille.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)On a latter date a man named Neillie Travers was fishing at about 7 o’ clock. He had 18 trout caught when he hooked as he thought a terrible large one. He tried his best with the fishing tackle until he brought him ashore. He at last saw it was an animal instead of a fish; he drop[p]ed the rod and ran off and left the 18 trout and rod behind him. A latter date a man named Devenney went fishing to this lake on a Whit-Sunday. He went under an alt to light his pipe, and was standing with a foot in each side of a stream coming out of a rock. It was almost sunset and as he looked towards the west he saw as he thought three houses in the lake. They were very ancient looking two storey in height with two chimneys on each house.
