The man took Paddy into this house and gave him every kind of meat he could ask for. The woman of the house came to Paddy and gave him a gold broach and said it was stolen from his grandmother years ago. She gave it to him and told it to keep it and that he would never be wanting money. The pale-faced man that put him on the right road and told him to hurry home before the sun would rise. When he would reach there he should go to his own garden and there he would find an Elm tree. He told him to get an axe and cut down the tree and then dig with a pick until he would find a crock of gold. Paddy did so and got the crock of gold. He fixed in the tree again
