- There are some curious customs and beliefs around this place. If a pot cracks when hung on a fire it is a sign that a stranger is coming to the house. If a man is the first person to enter a house on New Year’s day it is believed there will be good luck in that house during that year but if a woman is the first person to enter bad luck will be sure to overtake that household during that year. It is believed to be unlucky to meet a bare on a journey or worse still a red-haired, barefooted woman.
